Republicans just took a horribly humiliating midterm beating. They lost roughly 7 Senate seats, 30 House seats, and 4 governorships. They got the floor wiped with them by a so-called party that offered zero real solutions, only “why the war?” and “Trump bad,” plus some photogenic young candidates.
Here are some, but not all, the reasons why the worst-case scenario happened after spending nearly half a billion bucks and doing all those rallies:
- Classic midterm backlash against the party in power. A big chunk of voters still wants free stuff, and many haven’t accepted that today’s Democrats are no longer a normal American party.
- Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, MTG and others spent two years attacking Trump and the party while defending the Islamic Republic, Qatar, and Russia. Their intellectual poisoning worked. They demotivated enough Republican voters that they just stayed the fuck home because it looked so hopeless.
- Trump didn’t deliver on his promises of rolling back Biden-era inflation prices, deporting illegals, and did tariffs that brought real hurt to regular Americans.
- He dragged out the fight with the wretched terrorist government of Iran while insisting it “isn’t a war.” Democrats, of course, weren’t too dumb not to know how to sell it as ‘endless war’. He fucked up when he didn’t go all the way and finish the job or let Bibi do it and instead forced his hand not to. The stalemate only helped the Islamic Republic.
- The fake news outlets knew their shit and hit back hard in coordinated efforts on every non-story for years. Even Fox drifted, much to Trump’s chagrin. He really had no chance against the machine.
- Trump especially fucked up in Texas and North Carolina where he primaried winnable candidates out of the game. Many traditional voters said fuck this and walked after that.
- He fucked with welfare and food stamps the wrong way and created more unhappy people.
On the Iran front: we are still in neither-war-nor-deal territory. The regime is celebrating the congressional losses and is even less likely to cut a real deal. The only thing still working is the economic pressure.
In the next two months, before the new Congress sits, a third round of strikes may or may not happen. Hitting them now would show strength and take advantage of the fact that the regime is in no mood to deal. Holding off keeps 2028 from getting even worse and stops people like Vance from turning against it. Trump and Bibi both had freer hands earlier and still chose not to finish the job. They could easily keep doing nothing again.
None of this was inevitable. The base showed up in 2024 because they were promised a clean break. They got half-measures, endless process, and a war that was never finished. That is on Trump and the people around him. If they want any shot at not repeating this in 2028, the next 60 days have to look completely different from the last eight months.
